I can happily speak volumes about how terrific Stephanie is with animals. She always displays a balanced mix of compassion and sensibility when interacting with our furry companions. Most noteworthy, to me at least, is how I've seen her approach, and win over, our dog, Madison. "Maddy" clearly had a rough start in life and, as a result, she is extremely wary of newcomers. Stephanie, with amazing speed, has earned not only Maddy's trust, but her love as well. Instead of barking and insisting on keeping a 10 foot distance, Maddy NOW insists on flinging herself at Steph and offering tongue kisses (Sorry Steph! That's the price you pay for being so good!).

I adopted Grover from the Humane Society when he was 5 months old. He was this adorable little pit bull puppy who was an enthusiastic kisser and an energetic wriggler. Not having any experiences raising a puppy, I contacted Stephanie for some support. As a new pet owner, I had no idea what boundaries were or what the word "no" meant. Grover taught me pretty quickly that I had to learn how to set limits. Stephanie continues to work with Grover and me, to help me understand his behaviors and to teach me how to be a more responsible and consistent owner. Stephanie does not judge my parenting skills, but rather meets me where I'm at to help me create a safe and healthy environment for both Grover and myself. Grover continues to be the love of my life and, thanks to Stephanie, Grover and I continue to coexist peacefully.

Stephanie worked with us with our foster dog, Nika. Nika was found in an emaciated condition chained to a fence in a vacant lot, and had little or no idea of life in a household prior to coming to stay with us. Stephanie helped us assess her temperament with other dogs and worked with us on methods for teaching Nika basics: calming when her ebullient nature needed to settle down a bit, walking without pulling on a leash, and general house manners and social skills. Stephanie's use of positive training methods worked exceptionally well with Nika, who learned quickly what was being asked of her and worked hard to respond. I highly recommend Stephanie for those interested in using positive training methods to help dogs build positive social and family skills.

We adopted Gulliver through Petfinder, where we met Stephanie. Gullie is a Hurricane Katrina survivor who is just a big goofy pit bull and the most precious pup ever! Not knowing his history other than the unimaginable events he had been through, we had to basically start from scratch with him. Stephanie interviewed us, assessed our home and observed our interaction with Gullie, making sure we were a perfect match.  Stephanie fostered Gullie, and put him through basic training. Being familiar of the pit breed, we know they are all individual and have their own personality. Gullie has come a long way. There are always new sets of challenges and it's an ongoing process working with him, but definitely worth the effort.  I have called Stephanie several times asking for advice, and she has always been there to help resolve an issue.  I email her often and give her updates on how well Gullie is doing, and tell her funny stories about him. She is always delighted to hear from us, and truly cares about the people and dogs she has met along her path. Her service would benefit any new dog owner to become well balanced and establish a healthy relationship. I can't praise her enough....she's a natural !  Thanks Steph!!
